Fire Sprinkler System | Projects Residential

About this Project

Automatic fire suppression systems are now mandatory in Welsh and Scottish homes.

We were tasked with installing a fire suppression system in a newly developed student accommodation block located on Rodney Street, Liverpool. The 32-room apartment building, situated near the city center, required a reliable and efficient fire protection system to ensure the safety of its occupants. Given the residential nature of the building and the need for a space-saving solution, we opted for a water mist system.

Project Scope

The project involved the installation of a comprehensive water mist fire suppression system throughout the 32-room apartment block. A total of 128 misting heads were strategically placed to provide full coverage and ensure the safety of the residents in this busy student accommodation.

Challenges

  1. High Occupancy: The building’s 32-room layout meant that the system needed to be capable of providing reliable protection for a large number of occupants.
  2. Compact Installation: Given the constraints typical of student accommodations, the system had to be both efficient and compact, minimizing any intrusion into living spaces.
  3. Urban Location: Situated near the city center, the project demanded a fire suppression system that could be installed and tested with minimal disruption to the surrounding area and future residents.

Solution

To address the unique requirements of the student accommodation, our team implemented the following:

  1. Water Mist System Installation: We installed a water mist fire suppression system throughout the entire building. Water mist systems are ideal for residential settings due to their efficiency in suppressing fires with minimal water use, reducing potential water damage in case of activation.
  2. Strategic Nozzle Placement: The system was equipped with 128 misting heads, carefully placed to ensure comprehensive coverage across all rooms and common areas. This design maximizes protection while maintaining a discreet presence within the apartments.
  3. Efficient and Discreet Integration: We focused on integrating the system in a way that preserved the functionality and aesthetics of the living spaces. The compact design of the misting heads allowed for seamless integration without encroaching on the limited space typical of student accommodations.
  4. Compliance and Testing: After installation, the system was rigorously tested to ensure it met all safety standards and regulations, providing reliable protection for the building’s residents.

Results

The project was completed successfully, with the 32-room student accommodation on Rodney Street now fully equipped with a state-of-the-art water mist fire suppression system. The installation ensures that the building is well-protected while maintaining the comfort and usability of the living spaces.

The client was highly satisfied with the outcome, particularly the efficiency of the system and its unobtrusive integration within the residential environment.

Key Features:

  • Comprehensive Coverage: 128 misting heads provide full fire protection across the entire apartment block.
  • Space-Saving Design: The water mist system was chosen for its compact and efficient performance, ideal for residential settings.
  • Seamless Integration: The system was installed with minimal impact on the aesthetics and functionality of the student accommodation.

Conclusion

This project on Rodney Street, Liverpool, highlights our expertise in delivering tailored fire suppression solutions for residential properties. The successful installation of the water mist system in this student accommodation demonstrates our commitment to safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
